The Black Wagyu Beef Co. ranch was established in 2022 with the acquisition of two full-blood Japanese Wagyu cows, a full-blood Wagyu bull and a small herd of Wagyu – Angus crossbred cows commonly referred to as American Wagyu. Since then, our herd has grown considerably.
We are a multi-family enterprise dedicated to providing a healthier, higher quality beef products than one can find at the local supermarket. Our Wagyu beef cattle live their entire lives on pasture; never in a feed lot. We strive to keep our animals as stress-free and as happy as possible and allow them to grow to maturity naturally. These practices along with the superior genetics of the Wagyu breed reflect in the overall quality of our meat products.
Our cows have been DNA tested for genetic markers that affect meat quality and for the percentage of the valuable Wagyu genetics that determine the grade of the meat when processed. Black Wagyu Beef Company is registered with The American Wagyu Association.
We partner with knowledgeable local service providers to assure our processes reflect best practices in caring for our Wagyu herd. Our animals see our bovine veterinarian regularly. Our feed specialists assure that they all receive the proper nutrition.
Our local FDA certified beef processor is only a few miles from our ranch. We have personally inspected their facility and gotten to know the owner very well. They have a clean, state of the art facility, and they do things right and in a very humane way. When we bring our cows in to be processed, they are fed and watered for at least two days to settle them down from the stress of being transported and to minimize excess adrenaline. This practice enhances the overall quality of our final meat product and is often missing in other processing facilities that rush their animals through.
For us, it’s all about the quality of our meat products and your satisfaction as a direct customer.
The American Wagyu Association uses an ‘F’ scale in referencing genetics of American Wagyu Cattle. Our entire heard has be DNA tested and each of our cows, steers, heifers, and bulls have received an F rating, which is as follows:
• 100% = Full Blood
• 93.76-99.9% = F4
• 87.5 – 93.75% = F3
• 75 – 87 .4 = F2
• 50 – 74.9 = F1
(Cross between a Full Blood Wagyu Bull and a Black Angus Cow is a 50% CROSS)
Nestled in the rolling hills of north-central Florida’s “horse country,” between Ocala and Gainesville, lies our 130 acres of lush pastureland that provides the home to our happy herd of Wagyu cattle.
Black Wagyu Beef Co. is a smaller multi-family operation dedicated to delivering quality healthy Wagyu cattle and beef directly to our customers. We are able to offer more affordable pricing by eliminating the middleman. To accommodate the varied preferences of the American beef consumer, we offer both American Wagyu (a Wagyu/Angus cross-breed) and full-blood Japanese Wagyu beef.
Genetically testing our cows and bulls assures that all of our American Wagyu beef is at least 83% Wagyu. We only process a select handful of our cows each year, which allows us to better focus on the health and growth of each animal. We are very blessed to have many repeat customers who buy our beef regularly.
